Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
Catalyzes the attachment of threonine to tRNA(Thr) in a two-step reaction: threonine is first activated by ATP to form Thr-AMP and then transferred to the acceptor end of tRNA(Thr). Also edits incorrectly charged tRNA(Thr) via its editing domain, at the post-transfer stage.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Results show that TARS expression is increased in epithelial ovarian cancer. PMID: 25163878
  2. Our series mainly underscores that interstitial lung disease is frequent in anti-PL7(tars antibody)patients, leading to high morbidity. PMID: 23375620
  3. A previously undiscovered function for TARS as an angiogenic, pro-migratory extracellular signaling molecule. PMID: 23425968
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm.
Protein Families
Class-II aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase family
