Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%
Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%
Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
To assess the linearity of the assay, samples were spiked with high concentrations of rat IL-5 in various matrices and diluted with the Sample Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.

This kit provides quantitative measurement of interleukin-5 (IL-5) in rat serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, and tissue homogenates, supporting immunological research into eosinophil-driven inflammation and Th2 immune responses. Because rat IL-5 is often present at low picomolar concentrations and fluctuates sharply between baseline and allergen-challenged states, accurate quantification demands both fine sensitivity and a detection window matched to these dynamics.
Detection Range: The 3.12–200 pg/mL range spans resting-state circulating IL-5 levels through the elevated concentrations observed in bronchoalveolar lavage and plasma of allergen-sensitized rats, minimizing the need for sample dilution or concentration in most eosinophilic inflammation models.
Sensitivity: At 1.56 pg/mL, the assay detects IL-5 in unstimulated splenocyte supernates and naïve rat serum, where baseline levels can fall below 10 pg/mL — critical for establishing true pre-challenge baselines in asthma or parasitic infection studies.
Sample Compatibility: Validation across serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, and tissue homogenates allows researchers to correlate systemic IL-5 levels with local tissue production and ex vivo Th2 cell secretion within a single experimental framework.
Assay Efficiency: A 50–100 µL sample requirement and 1–5 hour protocol accommodate limited-volume BAL fluid collections and time-course studies requiring same-day results from multiple treatment groups.
This kit is directly applicable to rat models of allergic airway inflammation, helminth infection, and eosinophilic tissue remodeling.
