Description

E-selectin (SELE) is a cell adhesion molecule belonging to the selectin family of glycoproteins that plays an important role in leukocyte recruitment during inflammatory responses. This transmembrane protein is primarily expressed on activated endothelial cells and mediates the initial rolling and tethering of neutrophils, monocytes, and other immune cells to the vascular endothelium. E-selectin expression is rapidly upregulated in response to inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β. This makes it a valuable biomarker for endothelial activation and vascular inflammation in various pathological conditions.

The Rat soluble E-selectin ELISA Kit (CSB-E07996r) is designed for quantitative measurement of selectin E in Rattus norvegicus samples using a sandwich assay principle. This kit can analyze serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, and tissue homogenates with a detection range of 78 pg/mL to 5000 pg/mL and sensitivity of 19.5 pg/mL. The assay requires 50-100 μL sample volume, takes 1-5 hours to complete, and uses detection at 450 nm wavelength for accurate quantification of soluble E-selectin levels.

Application Examples

Note: The following application examples are drawn from a selection of publications citing this product. For additional applications, please refer to the full list of references in the "Citations" section.

This ELISA kit has been used in research examining vascular inflammation and endothelial dysfunction markers. Studies have applied the kit to quantify soluble E-selectin levels in plasma and serum samples from rat models, often as part of comprehensive biomarker panels examining cardiovascular and inflammatory processes.

Vascular inflammation research - Measurement of soluble E-selectin as a marker of endothelial activation and vascular inflammatory responses in experimental rat models
Multi-biomarker profiling - Integration with other inflammatory and vascular markers including cytokines, adhesion molecules, and oxidized lipoproteins to assess comprehensive inflammatory status
Cardiovascular biomarker studies - Quantification of soluble E-selectin alongside other endothelial dysfunction markers to evaluate vascular health and inflammatory cascades

Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
Cell-surface glycoprotein having a role in immunoadhesion. Mediates in the adhesion of blood neutrophils in cytokine-activated endothelium through interaction with SELPLG/PSGL1. May have a role in capillary morphogenesis.
