Alpha-2-HS-glycoprotein functions as a multivalent transport protein and mineralization regulator, binding calcium, fatty acids, and various signaling molecules to modulate their bioavailability in serum and extracellular fluids. This full-length mature protein (aa 19–359) demonstrates functional cell adhesion activity with an ED50 ≤100 μg/mL in B16-F1 melanoma cells, confirming that the recombinant form retains the native conformational epitopes required for integrin-mediated interactions. The validated adhesion activity supports its use in ligand-binding assays investigating cargo association and release kinetics, drug-protein binding studies examining small molecule interactions with serum transport proteins, and membrane transporter functional assays where fetuin A modulates receptor-mediated uptake. Purity exceeding 95% by SDS-PAGE and endotoxin levels ≤0.5 EU/mg satisfy the quality criteria typical for cell-based functional assays and structural characterization experiments requiring minimal contaminant interference.
