Reconstitution

We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20°C/-80°C. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.

Storage Condition

Ephrin-A1 mediates contact-dependent cell–cell communication through EphA receptor tyrosine kinases, orchestrating processes from axon guidance and tissue boundary formation to tumor angiogenesis and metastatic invasion. This mammalian-expressed protein spans the full mature sequence (aa 19–182) and demonstrates robust receptor engagement, binding immobilized EPHA2 with an EC50 of 5.9–7.8 ng/mL in functional ELISA—a quantitative benchmark that supports its use in receptor-ligand competition assays, surface plasmon resonance kinetics studies, and antibody characterization workflows requiring defined binding potency. The C-terminal hFc1 tag facilitates oriented immobilization and extends serum half-life in cell-based models, enabling researchers to investigate ephrin reverse signaling, contact-mediated cell repulsion, and EphA-dependent tumor cell migration in cancer biology experiments. Cell surface GPI-bound ligand for Eph receptors, a family of receptor tyrosine kinases which are crucial for migration, repulsion and adhesion during neuronal, vascular and epithelial development. Binds promiscuously Eph receptors residing on adjacent cells, leading to contact-dependent bidirectional signaling into neighboring cells. Plays an important role in angiogenesis and tumor neovascularization. The recruitment of VAV2, VAV3 and PI3-kinase p85 subunit by phosphorylated EPHA2 is critical for EFNA1-induced RAC1 GTPase activation and vascular endothelial cell migration and assembly. Exerts anti-oncogenic effects in tumor cells through activation and down-regulation of EPHA2. Activates EPHA2 by inducing tyrosine phosphorylation which leads to its internalization and degradation. Acts as a negative regulator in the tumorigenesis of gliomas by down-regulating EPHA2 and FAK. Can evoke collapse of embryonic neuronal growth cone and regulates dendritic spine morphogenesis.
