Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20°C/-80°C. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
5-10 business days
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Description

Uteroglobin (Scgb1a1) plays a central role in modulating inflammation and phospholipid binding in airway epithelial biology, making it a valuable tool for immunology-focused cell adhesion and functional studies. This tag-free recombinant rat protein, covering residues 20–96 of the mature sequence, demonstrates an ED50 of less than 5.0 μg/ml in an A549 lung carcinoma cell adhesion assay, corresponding to a specific activity exceeding 200 IU/mg. Expressed in *E. coli* to preserve the native, unglycosylated structure of the secretoglobin, the protein supports use in cell-based adhesion assays, ligand-binding studies investigating phospholipid or PCB interactions, and as a functional control in anti-inflammatory signaling experiments. Purity exceeding 97% by SDS-PAGE combined with endotoxin levels below 1.0 EU/μg satisfies the criteria typical for sensitive cellular assays where endotoxin-driven background activation would otherwise confound results.

Target Background

Function
Binds phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylinositol, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) and weakly progesterone, potent inhibitor of phospholipase A2.
Gene References into Functions
  1. The expression level of CC16 in lung tissues and BALF decreased in rat lung tissues exposed to mixed air pollutants. PMID: 18303626
  2. IL-13 induces CCSP expression via an EGFR- and leukocyte-dependent pathway. PMID: 12060562
  3. Results show that secretory markers such as CFTR, CC10, and CC26 are present in taste cells of rat circumvallate papillae, and their immunoreactivity is expressed, to a different extent, in subsets of taste cells that express alpha-gustducin. PMID: 18156603
