Description

The recombinant Escherichia coli O6:H1 Cell division protein FtsZ (1-383aa) is used to immunize a rabbit to prepare the ftsZ polyclonal antibody. The rabbit's immune system will recognize the immunogen as foreign and produce antibodies against it. The ftsZ polyclonal antibodies are purified from the rabbit's serum using protein G affinity chromatography. The purity of this ftsZ antibody is over 95%. This ftsZ antibody can be used to detect Escherichia coli O6:H1 ftsZ protein in ELISA and WB applications.

The FtsZ protein is a cytoskeletal protein that forms the Z-ring at the site of cell division. The Z-ring provides a scaffold for other proteins to assemble and divide the bacterial cell into two daughter cells. FtsZ is essential for bacterial cell division and is considered a potential target for the development of new antibiotics.

Target Background

Function
Essential cell division protein that forms a contractile ring structure (Z ring) at the future cell division site. The regulation of the ring assembly controls the timing and the location of cell division. One of the functions of the FtsZ ring is to recruit other cell division proteins to the septum to produce a new cell wall between the dividing cells. Binds GTP and shows GTPase activity.
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm.
Protein Families
FtsZ family
