Conjugate Avi-tag Biotinylated
E. coli biotin ligase (BirA) is highly specific in covalently attaching biotin to the 15 amino acid AviTag peptide. This recombinant protein was biotinylated in vivo by AviTag-BirA technology, which method is BriA catalyzes amide linkage between the biotin and the specific lysine of the AviTag.

Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Note: All of our proteins are default shipped with normal blue ice packs, if you request to ship with dry ice, please communicate with us in advance and extra fees will be charged.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Target Background

Function
Can degrade fibrillar type I, II, and III collagens. May play a role in the degradation of collagen fibers during uterine involution.
Gene References into Functions

  2. MMP8 plays an important role in intestinal I/R injury through mechanisms involving increased inflammation and loss of claudin-3 PMID: 27435263
  3. These results suggest that some of the anti-inflammatory effects of Dexamethasone are mediated through increased MMP-8 expression. PMID: 26923552

  5. Fusion peptide inhibitors of MMP-8/-9 prevent endotoxic shock if administered within a strict time window. PMID: 26111477
  6. the loss of MMP-8 likely has pleiotropic effects on innate immunity and angiogenesis that are reflected in changes in the protease web. PMID: 25848906
  7. A previously unknown role of MMP8 in M2-macrophage polarization by cleaving fibromodulin and therefore increasing the bioavailability of TGF-beta. PMID: 26092731
  8. MMP-8-deficient mice had significantly lower serum triglyceride (TG) levels (P = 0.003) and larger HDL particles compared with wild-type (WT) mice. However, no differences were observed in the apoA-I levels. PMID: 25550459
  9. These results demonstrate that MMP-8 critically mediates microglial activation by modulating TNF-alpha activity, which may explain neuroinflammation in septic mouse brain. PMID: 25049354
  10. MMP8 enhances vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation via an ADAM10, N-cadherin, and beta-catenin-mediated pathway and plays an important role in neointima formation. PMID: 24158518
  11. Suggest that MMP8 plays an important role in angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo. PMID: 23512982
  12. MMP8 plays an important role in stem cell migration and their recruitment into atherosclerotic lesions. PMID: 23071158

  14. Mmp-8 has a protective role in arthritis PMID: 21190566
  15. MMP-8 is not essential for neutrophil migration in arthritis and likely other autoimmune diseases. Rather, MMP-8 is important for normal rates of neutrophil apoptosis and hence regulates cell clearance. PMID: 21120997
  16. MMP-8 promotes acute inflammation after ventilation with high pressures, and its short-term inhibition could be a therapeutic goal to limit ventilator-induced lung injury. PMID: 19995943

  19. In vitro, fewer MMP-8(-/-) PMNs migrated thru 3D cross-linked collagen gels than WT PMNs.This was likely a result of pericollagenase activity of MMP-8, as WT PMNs expressing MMP-8 could not migrate effectively thru collagen resistant to the collagenase. PMID: 19801498
