MMP8

Matrix Metalloproteinase 8 (MMP-8), also known as Neutrophil Collagenase or Collagenase-2, is a zinc-dependent endopeptidase involved in the degradation of extracellular matrix components. It plays a crucial role in various physiological processes, including inflammation, wound healing, and tissue remodeling. MMP-8 is activated by various stimuli, such as cytokines and growth factors, and its activity is regulated by tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs).
