Conjugate Avi-tag Biotinylated
E. coli biotin ligase (BirA) is highly specific in covalently attaching biotin to the 15 amino acid AviTag peptide. This recombinant protein was biotinylated in vivo by AviTag-BirA technology, which method is BriA catalyzes amide linkage between the biotin and the specific lysine of the AviTag.

Protein FAQs
Storage Condition Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Note: All of our proteins are default shipped with normal blue ice packs, if you request to ship with dry ice, please communicate with us in advance and extra fees will be charged.
Notes Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Target Background

Function
Ubiquitin-like modifier that plays a role in intracellular transport of GABA(A) receptors and its interaction with the cytoskeleton. Involved in autophagy: while LC3s are involved in elongation of the phagophore membrane, the GABARAP/GATE-16 subfamily is essential for a later stage in autophagosome maturation. Through its interaction with the reticulophagy receptor TEX264, participates in the remodeling of subdomains of the endoplasmic reticulum into autophagosomes upon nutrient stress, which then fuse with lysosomes for endoplasmic reticulum turnover. Also required for the local activition of the CUL3(KBTBD6/7) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, regulating ubiquitination a nd degradation of TIAM1, a guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) that activates RAC1 and downstream signal transduction. Thereby, regulates different biological processes including the organization of the cytoskeleton, cell migration and proliferation. Involved in apoptosis.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Macroautophagic sequestration does not require the LC3 subfamily but the GABARAP subfamily is essential. PMID: 25684710
  2. These results support the regulatory role of Bcl-2 in autophagy and define GABARAP as a novel interaction partner involved in this intricate connection. PMID: 24240096
  3. GABARAP and AT(1)R interact through discrete domains and this association regulates the cell-surface accumulation and, consequently, ligand-induced function of the receptor. PMID: 19766149
  4. The results of this study show that GABARAP has a functional effect on the trafficking of GABA(A) receptors and provide evidence for the role of GABARAP in transporting GABA(A) receptors to the plasma membrane in neurons. PMID: 15601949
  5. Coexpression of GABARAP increases the steady-state expression of GABA-A receptors at the cell surface. Coexpression of GABARAP increases GABA currents by 2- to 3-fold. PMID: 15814572
  6. Carboxyl-terminal processing of GABARAP is essential for the localization of GABARAP and its functions as a trafficking protein. PMID: 17581952
