Target Background

Function
Amine transporter. Terminates the action of dopamine by its high affinity sodium-dependent reuptake into presynaptic terminals (Probable). Regulator of light-dependent retinal hyaloid vessel regression, downstream of OPN5 signaling.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Results show that Gbetagamma activation regulates DAT activity by increasing dopamine (DA) efflux, and suggests that Gbetagamma promotes an efflux-willing state of the transporter and that the activation of a GPCR can lead to a Gbetagamma-dependent DA efflux. Furthermore, the cellular responses that occur following activation of a Galphaq-coupled receptor are the result of multiple signaling pathways mediated by Galpha... PMID: 28894302
