Tag Info
Tag type will be determined during the manufacturing process.
The tag type will be determined during production process. If you have specified tag type, please tell us and we will develop the specified tag preferentially.
Form
Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer before Lyophilization
Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.0
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Note: All of our proteins are default shipped with normal blue ice packs, if you request to ship with dry ice, please communicate with us in advance and extra fees will be charged.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Target Background

Function
Mitochondrial outer membrane GTPase that mediates mitochondrial clustering and fusion. Membrane clustering requires GTPase activity. It may involve a major rearrangement of the coiled coil domains. Mitochondria are highly dynamic organelles, and their morphology is determined by the equilibrium between mitochondrial fusion and fission events. Overexpression induces the formation of mitochondrial networks (in vitro). Has low GTPase activity.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Hypoxia leads to upregulation of mitofusin 1 (Mfn1) both in vivo and in vitro. Mfn1 is involved in hypoxia-induced PASMCs proliferation. Mfn1-mediated mitochondrial homeostasis is regulated by miR-125a. MiR-125a plays a role in PASMCs oxidative phosphorylation and glycolysis. PMID: 28593577
  2. results implied that HO-1 upregulation suppressed oxidative stress induced by LPS, and the possible mechanism could be associated with Mfn1 and the PI3K/Akt pathway. PMID: 27830717
  3. Studied role of plant-derived miR5338 in Mfn1 inhibition in rape bee pollen treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia. PMID: 29382326
  4. In the renal tissues of rats with chronic fluorosis, expression of both Mfn1 protein and mRNA was clearly reduced, whereas that of Fis1 was elevated. PMID: 24958380
  5. Data identify MFN1 as an ERK target to modulate mitochondrial shape and apoptosis. PMID: 25801171
  6. Mfn1 and miR-140 are integrated into the program of cardiomyocyte apoptosis. PMID: 24615014
  7. Physical exercise is identified as a preventive measure to promote mitochondrial function and expressions of mitofusin, BDNF and antioxidant in brain, so as to protect brain energy metabolism against chronic mild stress. PMID: 22244747
  8. The Mfn 1 could inhibit the activation of caspase-3 and caspase-9, which are necessary for endonuclease G translocation to the nucleus. PMID: 20594982
  9. Fis1 and Mfn1 activities influence mitochondrial signal generation thereby insulin exocytosis. PMID: 18832378

Subcellular Location
Mitochondrion outer membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.
Protein Families
TRAFAC class dynamin-like GTPase superfamily, Dynamin/Fzo/YdjA family, Mitofusin subfamily
Tissue Specificity
Ubiquitous. In brain, it is expressed at weaker level than MFN2, while it is expressed at a higher level than MFN2 in heart and testis. Expressed at high level in elongating spermatids of seminiferous tubules.
