Target Background

Function
Involved in the latter stages of lignin biosynthesis. Catalyzes one of the last steps of monolignol biosynthesis, the conversion of cinnamoyl-CoAs into their corresponding cinnamaldehydes.
Gene References into Functions
  1. the product of the CINNAMOYL CoA REDUCTASE (CCR1) gene, which is required for lignin biosynthesis, participates in the process of cell proliferation exit in leaves. PMID: 26058952
  2. The purification of the recombinant AtCCR1 protein expressed in E. coli and the subsequent determination of its kinetic properties towards its main substrates and the inhibitory effect of 5 substrate analogs are reported. PMID: 16122934
  3. A study evaluating lignin formation in IRX4 mutated A. thaliana is reported. PMID: 17092316
  4. Mutants deficient for cinnamoyl-CoA reductase 1 have three to four-times less sinapoyl malate (SM) than controls and accumulate some feruloyl malate. PMID: 18046574
Protein Families
NAD(P)-dependent epimerase/dehydratase family, Dihydroflavonol-4-reductase subfamily
Tissue Specificity
Expressed in leaves, stems and flowers.
