Description

The RCSF antibody is created by immunizing a rabbit with the recombinant Escherichia coli (strain K12) RCSF protein. It is then purified using protein A/G affinity chromatography. This antibody is recommended for detecting the Escherichia coli (strain K12) RCSF protein in ELISA and WB assays.

The Escherichia coli (strain K12) RCSF protein is crucial for maintaining the integrity of the cell envelope and coordinating the response to environmental stresses in Escherichia coli (strain K12). It is involved in the activation of the RcsC/RcsD/RcsB phosphorelay system that plays a role in controlling the production of capsular polysaccharides and regulates the expression of various genes involved in cell envelope synthesis, stress response, and virulence.

Target Background

Function
Essential component of the Rcs signaling system, which controls transcription of numerous genes. Plays a role in signal transduction from the cell surface to the histidine kinase RcsC. May detect outer membrane defects. The system controls expression of genes involved in colanic acid capsule synthesis, biofilm formation and cell division.
Gene References into Functions
  1. RcsF functions by interacting with the cytoplasmic membrane component(s) of the system in activating the system. PMID: 28691662
  2. Here, the authors show that the RcsF/outer membrane protein complex is functional and that lipopolysaccharide defects are sensed directly by the surface-exposed domain of RcsF. PMID: 27282389
  3. The proline-rich region of RcsF regulated the function of RcsF in activating the Rcs system. PMID: 23813676
  4. Mislocalization of RcsF activates the Rcs system. It seems that RcsF must be localized in the outer membrane to respond effectively to stimuli from outside the cell. PMID: 22322964
Subcellular Location
Cell outer membrane; Lipid-anchor; Periplasmic side.
