This human fractalkine (FK) ELISA kit employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique to measure the levels of human FK in serum, plasma, or tissue homogenates. It also uses the enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction to visualize and analyze the analyte levels through the color intensity. The intensity of the colored product is in direct proportion to the FK levels in the sample and is measured at 450 nm through a microplate reader.
Fractalkine, also called CX3CL1, exerts its biological activities by binding to its receptor CX3CR1. The CX3CL1-CX3CR1 axis mediates the adhesion of leukocytes and is involved in cell survival and recruitment of immune cell subpopulations. On homeostasis, the CX3CL1-CX3CR1 signaling participates in the removal of damaged neurons and neurogenesis. The CX3CL1-CX3CR1 axis is also implicated in the pathogenesis of several inflammatory cancer including various B cell malignancies and induces several cellular responses relevant to cancer such as proliferation, migration, invasion, and apoptosis resistance.
