The product CSB-E04656h is a sandwich ELISA kit developed to measure concentrations of human MCP-2 in serum, plasma, or tissue homogenates. This assay uses the sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique in combination with the enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction to quantify the analyte in the sample. The color develops positively to the amount of MCP-2 in samples. The color intensity is measured at 450 nm via a microplate reader.
MCP-2, also called CCL8, is a pro-inflammatory chemokine expressed in inflamed tissues by resident and infiltrated monocyte/macrophages after paracrine stimulation from T-cells by IFNs and other proinflammatory cytokines. It can also be induced through innate mechanisms upon contact with viral, bacterial, and fungal agents. CCL8 is an agonist of CCR1, CCR2, and CCR5 and plays a pivotal role in the control of leukocyte chemotaxis, HIV entry, and other inflammatory diseases. CCL8 exerts different roles in different tumors. It contributes to the dissemination of breast cancer and promotes the migration and invasion of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Studies have also confirmed that CCL8 suppresses the growth of cervical carcinoma tumors and exhibits an anti-tumor metastatic effect in melanoma.
