Description

The product CSB-E16492h is a sandwich ELISA kit developed to measure levels of human soluble tumor necrosis factor-like weak inducer of apoptosis (sTWEAK) in multiple samples, including serum, plasma, or tissue homogenates. The enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction is also used to amplify the signal and quantify the levels of the analyte through the intensity of the colored product. The color intensity positively correlates with the amount of sTWEAK bound in the initial step.

TWEAK, encoded by the gene TNFSF12, signals through TNFRSF12A, commonly known as Fn14. The TWEAK-Fn14 interaction regulates cellular activities including proliferation, migration, differentiation, apoptosis, angiogenesis, tissue remodeling, and inflammation, as well as induction of inflammatory cytokines. During pathological vascular wall remodeling, TWEAK/Fn14 axis takes part in modulating endothelial dysfunction, inflammation, angiogenesis, and thrombosis. TWEAK has been reported to be liked to autoimmune diseases, cancers, stroke, and kidney-related disorders.

Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
Binds to FN14 and possibly also to TNRFSF12/APO3. Weak inducer of apoptosis in some cell types. Mediates NF-kappa-B activation. Promotes angiogenesis and the proliferation of endothelial cells. Also involved in induction of inflammatory cytokines. Promotes IL8 secretion.
