Precision
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%
Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%
Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
Linearity
To assess the linearity of the assay, samples were spiked with high concentrations of rabbit IL-1 in various matrices and diluted with the Sample Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.

Description

Interleukin-1 (IL-1) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a central role in immune responses and inflammatory processes. This cytokine family includes IL-1α and IL-1β, which are produced primarily by activated macrophages, monocytes, and other immune cells in response to various stimuli including pathogens and tissue damage. IL-1 mediates numerous biological effects including fever induction, acute-phase protein synthesis, and activation of T-helper cells. It serves as an important mediator in both innate and adaptive immunity.

The Rabbit Interleukin 1,IL-1 ELISA Kit (CSB-E06896Rb) is designed for quantitative measurement of IL-1 in Oryctolagus cuniculus samples. This sandwich ELISA works with serum, plasma, and tissue homogenates. The detection range spans 15.6 pg/mL to 1000 pg/mL with sensitivity of 3.9 pg/mL. The assay requires 50-100 μL sample volume and completes within 1-5 hours. Detection occurs at 450 nm wavelength for reliable quantification of rabbit IL-1 levels.

Application Examples

Note: The following application examples are drawn from a selection of publications citing this product. For additional applications, please refer to the full list of references in the "Citations" section.

This ELISA kit has been used in research examining inflammatory responses and cytokine profiling across different biological sample types. Studies have applied the kit to quantify interleukin levels in serum samples and aqueous humor, supporting research into inflammatory processes and immune system activity.

Inflammatory cytokine profiling - Used alongside other cytokine assays to evaluate inflammatory marker panels in serum samples
Ocular inflammation research - Applied to measure cytokine concentrations in aqueous humor samples to examine inflammatory responses in eye-related studies
Multi-analyte biomarker studies - Incorporated into broader cytokine panels that include various interleukins and inflammatory mediators for comprehensive immune response characterization

Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
Produced by activated macrophages, IL-1 stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1 proteins are involved in the inflammatory response, being identified as endogenous pyrogens, and are reported to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells.
Gene References into Functions
  1. We propose that induction of collagenase-1 by IL-1alpha in both WF and NF depends on a unique combination of cell type-specific signaling pathways. PMID: 17455222
Subcellular Location
Cytoplasm. Secreted.
