Form
Liquid or Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer
If the delivery form is liquid, the default storage buffer is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 5%-50% glycerol.
Note: If you have any special requirement for the glycerol content, please remark when you place the order.
If the delivery form is lyophilized powder, the buffer before lyophilization is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.0.
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20°C/-80°C. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
Delivery time may differ from different purchasing way or location, please kindly consult your local distributors for specific delivery time.
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

 Q&A
Q:

Is it possible to use Efemp1 to coat cell culture dishes?

A:
Thanks for your inquiry. Do you plan to perform protein function related experiments? We haven't tested the activity of this protein so we can't 100% guarantee that it is active. However the protein we provide is full length of mature protein and purified under mild conditions, which should have activity in theory. If you plan to perform cell experiment, we suggest to process the protein with endotoxin removal and aseptic processing. The endotoxin level will be less than 1.0 EU per 1μg of the protein by the LAL method.
Q:

Can it be used to coat cell culture dishes?

A:
Thanks for your inquiry. You could try to coat cell culture dishes but we can't guarantee the activity of the protein.

Target Background

Function
Binds EGFR, the EGF receptor, inducing EGFR autophosphorylation and the activation of downstream signaling pathways. May play a role in cell adhesion and migration. May function as a negative regulator of chondrocyte differentiation. In the olfactory epithelium, it may regulate glial cell migration, differentiation and the ability of glial cells to support neuronal neurite outgrowth.
Gene References into Functions
  1. TWEAK promotes migration and invasion in murine embryonic fibroblasts through a mechanism dependent on ERKs activation and Fibulin 3 down-regulation. PMID: 28383766
  2. Mutant fibulin-3 causes proteoglycan accumulation, reduction of MMP-2 and MMP-9, but increase of TIMP-3, and impairs diffusion across Bruch's membrane. PMID: 28622396
  3. Define the Efemp1-p27(Kip1) axis as a potential marker module of PDAC cell sensitivity towards dual PI3K-mTOR inhibitors. PMID: 23470560
  4. The Efemp1 knock-in mice reconstitute the most important histopathologic symptoms of both Malattia leventinese and age-related macular degeneration. PMID: 17664227
  5. fibulin-3 plays an important role in maintaining the integrity of fascia connective tissues and regulates aging. PMID: 17872905
  6. both fibulin-3 and -5 are important in maintaining pelvic organ support in mice. PMID: 19095964
  7. Data suggest a role for fibulin-3 in tissue maintenance and regeneration in the adult olfactory pathway. PMID: 19520159
