Form
Liquid or Lyophilized powder
Note: We will preferentially ship the format that we have in stock, however, if you have any special requirement for the format, please remark your requirement when placing the order, we will prepare according to your demand.
Buffer
If the delivery form is liquid, the default storage buffer is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 5%-50% glycerol. If the delivery form is lyophilized powder, the buffer before lyophilization is Tris/PBS-based buffer, 6% Trehalose, pH 8.0.
Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20℃/-80℃. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
3-7 business days
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4℃ for up to one week.

Target Background

Function
Involved in clearance and endocytosis of hemoglobin/haptoglobin complexes by macrophages and may thereby protect tissues from free hemoglobin-mediated oxidative damage. May play a role in the uptake and recycling of iron, via endocytosis of hemoglobin/haptoglobin and subsequent breakdown of heme. Binds hemoglobin/haptoglobin complexes in a calcium-dependent and pH-dependent manner. Induces a cascade of intracellular signals that involves tyrosine kinase-dependent calcium mobilization, inositol triphosphate production and secretion of IL6 and CSF1. May play a role in the process of infection of porcine monocytes/macrophages by African swine fever virus (ASFV). In case of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), serves mediates virion attachment and plays a role in viral entry.; After shedding, the soluble form (sCD163) may play an anti-inflammatory role.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Study investigated the association of three CD163 polymorphisms with host immune responses following PRRSV challenge and also analyzed the combined effects of the CD163 SNPs. The most significant associations were found with the c.2509G>C, c.2638A>G and c.3534C>T polymorphisms. PMID: 29285769
  2. deletion of Exon 7 of the CD163 gene, encoding SRCR5 had no adverse effects in pigs and these animals showed complete resistance to viral infection by the positive-strand RNA PRRS virus PMID: 28231264
  3. CD163 is not necessary for infection with African swine fever virus. PMID: 27898335
  4. CD163 represents an additional candidate gene for resistance against porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome. PMID: 26711047
  5. Overexpression of ADAM17 induced downregulation of CD163 expression and a reduction in reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus infection. PMID: 24965453
  6. Fusion protein of sialoadhesin and domains 5-9 of CD163 receptors blocked the respiratory syndrome virus infection. PMID: 24246307
  7. GP4 is involved in interaction with cellular receptor CD163. PMID: 22537809
  8. ). These results provided fundamental evidence for CD163 and SN as two functional candidate genes affecting immunity in pigs. PMID: 21786159
  9. Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus GP4 was found to co-localize with CD163 in the lipid rafts on the plasma membrane. PMID: 22222209
  10. Our results suggest that the intracellular domain of CD163 may be associated with an important yet-unknown function during porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus replication. PMID: 20496088
  11. The newly established porcine alveolar macrophage cell lines were demonstrated to express robust levels of CD163 and to be fully permissive for both type 1 and 2 porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus strains. PMID: 19900480
  12. The carboxy-terminal 223 residues of the CD163 molecule are not required for interactions with either the GP2a or the GP4 protein, although these residues are required for conferring susceptibility to PRRSV infection. PMID: 19939927
  13. CD163 is shown to be involved in PRRSV (porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus) entry, probably during uncoating, and to interact with sialoadhesin in the process. PMID: 19008379
  14. The expression level of CD163 correlates with the level of PRRSV infection. PMID: 19111584
  15. Clear changes in the quantity of sialoadhesin(+) and CD163(+) macrophages in the placentas and organs of embryos/fetuses during gestation. PMID: 19410291
