Description

The wac antibody is created through rabbit immunization with recombinant Enterobacteria phage T4 wac (2-487aa), inducing the rabbit's B lymphocytes to produce targeted IgG antibodies. Following this, the polyclonal wac antibody is isolated from the rabbit's serum using protein A/G purification. Researchers can use this wac antibody to detect Enterobacteria phage T4 wac protein in both ELISA and WB assays.

Whisker antigens play a role in host recognition and attachment during the infection process. The whisker antigen control (wac) protein helps in controlling and regulating the expression of these whisker antigens, enhancing the phage's ability to infect and replicate within the host bacterial cell. The wac protein is a part of the phage's strategy to avoid detection and destruction by the host's defenses.

Target Background

Function
Chaperone involved in tail fiber assembly and retraction. Acts as a chaperone helping to attach the long tail fibers to the virus during the assembly process. During phage assembly, twelve fibritin molecules attach to the phage neck via gp13: six molecules forming the collar and six molecules forming the whiskers.
Subcellular Location
Virion.
