WAC

WW domain-containing adaptor with coiled-coil, also known as WAC, is a nuclear adaptor protein involved in chromatin regulation, gene transcription, and mitochondrial homeostasis. It is essential for normal neurodevelopment and cellular growth control.
Mutations in WAC cause Desanto-Shinawi syndrome, characterized by developmental delay and intellectual disability. Reduced expression is also observed in glioblastoma and linked to poor prognosis. Current research focuses on pathogenic mechanism exploration, with small-molecule modulators still under preclinical investigation for potential therapeutic use.
