Description

The human IL13 ELISA Kit is used to quantitatively measure human IL13 concentrations in serum, plasma, or tissue homogenates. It performs well in important characteristics, including sensitivity and specificity. This assay is based on the sandwich ELISA mechanism and enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction. The solution color develops proportionally to the amount of IL13 in the sample. And the intensity of the color can be measured at 450 nm via a microplate reader.

IL13 is a pleiotropic Th2 cell-derived cytokine with immunoregulatory activities that partially overlap with those of IL4. IL13 can regulate IgE isotype switching in B cells, MHC class II and FcεRII expression on B cells and monocytes, chemokine generation, activation of mast cell, eosinophil, and neutrophil function, as well as the suppression of pro-inflammatory gene expression by monocyte/macrophage populations. IL13 is involved in modulating normal physiological processes including inflammation, immune response, mucus production, and tissue reconstruction, but also in some pathological processes such as autoimmune diseases, bronchial asthma, organ fibrosis, and some cancers.
