Mice were immunized with the recombinant MERTK protein (21-505aa) to generate B cells from the spleen. The B cells were then fused with myeloma cells to produce hybridomas. The hybridomas were screened to identify those that produced the MERTK antibody and then cultured to obtain the MERTK monoclonal antibody. This antibody reacts specifically with the human species. The MERTK monoclonal antibody is suitable for use in multiple applications, including ELISA, WB, IHC, IF, and FC applications, and is purified using protein A affinity chromatography with a purity of over 95%.
MERTK mainly regulates cell phagocytosis, apoptosis, and inflammation. It plays a critical role in mediating the clearance of apoptotic cells and debris through a process called efferocytosis. It helps in the recognition and binding of phosphatidylserine on the surface of apoptotic cells, triggering the phagocytosis process. MERTK also participates in regulating inflammation by modulating the production of cytokines and chemokines.
