MERTK Research Reagents

MERTK is a member of the TAM family of receptor tyrosine kinases, which also includes two members, Tyro3 and Axl. MerTK (also known as Eyk, Nyk, Tyro 12) is expressed in astrocytes, microglia, testis, lung, retina, skeletal muscle, kidney, prostate, heart, brain, dendritic cells, monocyte/macrophage, NK cells, natural killer T cells, and other cells. TAM receptors consisted of two N-terminal immunoglobulin-like domains (Ig1-2) and two menbrane proximal fibronectin-like domains (F1-2). The intracellular region of the TAM receptor contains a highly conservative tyrosine kinase domain and a TAM-specific sequence, KW (I/L)A(I/L)ES, in the catalytic domain. Gas6 and Pros1 are the two main ligands for activating TAM receptor. Many studies have shown that TAM receptor plays a key role in the dynamic balance of immunity and inflammation. The dysfunction of three TAM receptors (Tyro3, Axl and MERTK) can lead to immune disorders.
