Precision

Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<8%

Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.

Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<10%

Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.

Linearity

To assess the linearity of the assay, samples were spiked with high concentrations of monkey IL-8/CXCL8 in various matrices and diluted with the Sample Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.

Description

This ELISA kit provides quantitative measurement of CXCL8 (IL-8) in monkey samples, supporting immunology research focused on neutrophil-mediated inflammation and chemokine signaling. Because CXCL8 levels can span orders of magnitude between baseline and acute inflammatory states, and because non-human primate models are critical for translational studies of sepsis, mucosal immunity, and vaccine-induced innate responses, this kit is designed to address those specific demands.

Detection Range: The 7.8–500 pg/mL range captures both constitutive CXCL8 secretion in resting tissues and the elevated concentrations seen during acute inflammation. Samples from LPS-challenged monkeys or inflamed tissue homogenates may require dilution, while unstimulated plasma typically falls within range without concentration.

Sensitivity: At 3.9 pg/mL, the kit detects basal CXCL8 in unstimulated cell culture supernatants and low-level circulating concentrations present before overt inflammatory onset, which is essential for kinetic studies of early innate immune activation.

Sample Compatibility: Validation across serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants, and tissue homogenates enables researchers to correlate systemic CXCL8 levels with local tissue production and in vitro stimulation assays within a single study using one standardized platform.

Assay Efficiency: The 1–5 hour protocol and 50–100 µL sample volume accommodate limited-volume NHP specimens and time-course designs requiring multiple sampling points from the same animal.

This kit is well suited for studies of primate sepsis models, respiratory infection-driven neutrophilia, and preclinical evaluation of anti-inflammatory therapeutics.

Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
IL-8 is a chemotactic factor that attracts neutrophils, basophils, and T-cells, but not monocytes. It is also involved in neutrophil activation. It is released from several cell types in response to an inflammatory stimulus.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Stress decreased IL-8 gene expression in both CeA lesioned and non-lesioned animals. But, CeA lesions increased the tissue expression of IL-8 mRNA prior to and after stress exposure. PMID: 16574374
Subcellular Location
Secreted.
Protein Families
Intercrine alpha (chemokine CxC) family
