Target Background

Function
Guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) are involved as modulators or transducers in various transmembrane signaling systems. The G(i) proteins are involved in hormonal regulation of adenylate cyclase: they inhibit the cyclase in response to beta-adrenergic stimuli. May play a role in cell division.; Regulates the cell surface density of dopamine receptors DRD2 by sequestrating them as an intracellular pool.

  4. Data strongly implicate GNAI2 as a critical regulator of oncogenesis and an upstream driver of cancer progression in ovarian carcinoma. PMID: 24423449
  5. Galpha(i2) activates the TRPC4 channel by direct binding. PMID: 25788576
  6. Changes in ion selectivity and pore dilation of the TRPC4 channel elicited by the Galphai2 subunit, were studied. PMID: 24011658

  10. The ubiquitination of Galphai2 and Galphaq is suppressed by expression of Ric-8A. The suppression likely requires Ric-8A interaction with these Galpha proteins; the C-terminal truncation of Galphaq and Galphai2 completely abrogates their interaction with Ric-8A. PMID: 23665327
