The recombinant bovine cation-independent mannose-6-phosphate receptor (IGF2R) is generated in E. coli using an expression construct that encodes amino acids 628 to 772 of the bovine IGF2R protein and an N-terminal 6xHis-tag. The N-terminal 6xHis-tag allows for efficient purification and detection of the recombinant IGF2R protein. The purity of the recombinant IGF2R protein exceeds 90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE analysis. On the gel, the protein migrates as a band with an approximate molecular weight of 24 kDa.
The bovine IGF2R protein serves as a cation-independent mannose-6-phosphate (CI-M6P) receptor, playing a crucial role in the cellular trafficking and targeting of lysosomal enzymes. IGF2R also participates in the regulation of growth and development through interaction with IGF2.
