The recombinant bovine cation-independent mannose-6-phosphate receptor (IGF2R) is synthesized using a mammalian cell expression system. The expression construct contains the region encoding amino acids 628 to 772 of the bovine IGF2R protein and is fused with a C-terminal hFc-tag for enhanced stability and detection. During the production process, mammalian cells are transfected with the recombinant expression construct to enable the synthesis of the bovine IGF2R protein. Following purification, the recombinant IGF2R protein exhibits a purity of up to 90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE analysis. On the gel, the IGF2R protein appears as a distinct band with an approximate molecular weight of 49 kDa.
IGF2R plays a crucial role in cellular processes related to immunology. It functions as a receptor for mannose-6-phosphate (M6P)-tagged proteins, enabling their transport and targeting within cells. It is also involved in the regulation of lysosomal enzyme trafficking, ensuring proper lysosomal function and cellular homeostasis. It plays a role in modulating the availability and activity of IGF2, which is important for cell growth, differentiation, and development.
