Description

CD46, also known as membrane cofactor protein, serves as a critical regulator of complement activation and plays essential roles in protecting host cells from complement-mediated damage. Beyond its classical function in immune regulation, CD46 has garnered significant research interest as a receptor exploited by various pathogens and for its involvement in T cell-mediated immunity. The protein's expression patterns in cancer tissues have also made it a compelling target for oncology research.

This recombinant monoclonal antibody, clone 7D12, offers the reproducibility and consistency that demanding experimental workflows require. The antibody has been validated for Western blotting and immunohistochemistry applications in human samples. In Western blot analysis of HeLa whole cell lysate, the antibody detects a band at approximately 56 kDa. Internalized upon binding of Measles virus, Herpesvirus 6 or Neisseria gonorrhoeae, which results in an increased susceptibility of infected cells to complement-mediated injury. In cancer cells or cells infected by Neisseria, shedding leads to a soluble peptide.
