Reconstitution
We recommend that this vial be briefly centrifuged prior to opening to bring the contents to the bottom. Please reconstitute protein in deionized sterile water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.We recommend to add 5-50% of glycerol (final concentration) and aliquot for long-term storage at -20°C/-80°C. Our default final concentration of glycerol is 50%. Customers could use it as reference.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Storage Condition
Store at -20°C/-80°C upon receipt, aliquoting is necessary for mutiple use. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Shelf Life
The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself.
Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20°C/-80°C. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20°C/-80°C.
Lead Time
3-7 business days
Notes
Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4°C for up to one week.

Description

Our Recombinant Escherichia coli malE protein is an exceptional choice for researchers focusing on tags and cell markers. This full-length mature Maltose/maltodextrin-binding periplasmic protein (MMBP; Maltodextrin-binding protein; Maltose-binding protein) is derived from the Escherichia coli (strain K12) species and has an expression region of 27-396aa.

Expressed in E. coli, the malE protein is designed with N-terminal 10xHis and C-terminal Myc tags for seamless detection and purification processes. Boasting a purity greater than 90% as assessed by SDS-PAGE, the Recombinant Escherichia coli malE protein is supplied as a lyophilized powder, ensuring a reliable and high-quality product for your research needs.

Target Background

Function
Part of the ABC transporter complex MalEFGK involved in maltose/maltodextrin import. Binds maltose and higher maltodextrins such as maltotriose.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Upon refolding, MBP initially collapses into a dynamic molten globule-like ensemble, then forms an obligatory on-pathway native-like folding intermediate that brings together sequentially remote segments and then folds globally after a long delay. PMID: 29295923
  2. Our current understanding of what makes MBP such an effective solubility enhancer for other proteins and how it facilitates the proper folding of its fusion partners is presented [REVIEW] PMID: 28132493
  3. Maltose Binding Protein is key to the coupling of maltose transport to ATP hydrolysis in vivo, because it facilitates the progression of the MalK dimer from the open to the semi-open conformation, from which it can proceed to hydrolyze ATP PMID: 26268698
  4. activates mouse macrophages and polarizes them into M1 macrophages PMID: 24825603
  5. a salt-bridge motif in the maltose-binding protein has a role in the initial steps of substrate transport PMID: 16143635
  6. Our findings indicate that the solubility-enhancing activity of MBP is mediated by its open conformation and point to a likely role for the ligand-binding cleft in the mechanism of solubility enhancement. PMID: 17964542
  7. These data indicate that unfolding of the mature domain of preMBP is likely not a rate-determining step in translocation when the protein is targeted to the translocase via SecB. PMID: 18241889
  8. tat mutants are able to transport maltose in the absence of malE. PMID: 18385983
