CD38 is a multifunctional ectoenzyme central to NAD⁺ metabolism and a validated therapeutic target in hematologic malignancies, making reliable recombinant forms essential for mechanistic and drug discovery research. This partial human CD38 (residues 43–300), expressed in yeast with a C-terminal 6×His tag positioned away from the catalytic domain, retains confirmed binding activity with an EC₅₀ of 20.07–28.73 ng/mL against an anti-CD38 recombinant antibody in functional ELISA, supporting its use as a positive control in enzyme-linked assays and as a target for inhibitor screening and IC₅₀ determination. Purity exceeding 95% by SDS-PAGE and endotoxin levels below 1.0 EU/μg satisfy the stringent criteria typical for accurate kinetic parameter analysis (Km, Vmax, kcat), substrate specificity profiling, and drug candidate evaluation studies. These attributes also provide a suitable basis for structural investigations such as crystallography or cryo-EM where homogeneous, high-purity protein is critical.
