Description

CUSABIO uses a partial recombinant protein mapping within 54-380 amino acids of the human PAG 1 protein to immunize the rabbit to produce the anti-PAG 1 polyclonal antibody. This PAG 1 antibody exists as the unconjugated IgG isoform. The purity of this antibody is 95%+ using protein G affinity chromatography. This PAG 1 antibody shows reactivity to bovine, human, and rat samples. And it has been validated for use in ELISA and WB applications.

Its target protein PAG 1 is a protein primarily found in the placenta of ruminants (such as cows, sheep, and goats) during pregnancy. PAG 1 plays a role in the formation and maintenance of the placenta. It is also used as a biomarker for pregnancy diagnosis and to monitor fetal growth in ruminant animals.

Target Background

Function
Appears to be proteolytically inactive.
Gene References into Functions
  1. This study examines expression patterns of the genes SERPINA14, PAG, and PAG2 at the fetal-maternal interface in dairy heifers experimentally infected with N caninum during the second trimester of pregnancy, when most abortions takes place in natural conditions. PMID: 27045629
  2. The clinical implications of these findings are that following infection with N. caninum, most cows will experience some level of placental damage and that this injury correlates with foetal fluid PAG levels and pH. PMID: 26936628
  3. These findings indicate that IFN-gamma production correlates negatively and the production of antibodies against N. caninum is uncorrelated with plasma pregnancy-associated glycoproteins levels. PMID: 24456132
  4. Restraint stress for 2 h during early pregnancy in heifers increased blood cortisol, but it did not affect the concentrations of progesterone and PAG-1 between days 30 to 40 of gestation. PMID: 21872319
Subcellular Location
Secreted, extracellular space.
Protein Families
Peptidase A1 family
Tissue Specificity
Trophoblast and placental tissue. Produced specifically in the invasive binucleate cells of the placenta. Becomes detectable in maternal serum soon after implantation.
