Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.
To assess the linearity of the assay, samples were spiked with high concentrations of sheep IL-6 in various matrices and diluted with the Sample Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.

Interleukin 6 (IL-6) is a multifunctional cytokine that plays important roles in immune responses, inflammation, and hematopoiesis. Originally identified as interferon beta 2, IL-6 is produced by various cell types including macrophages, T cells, and fibroblasts in response to inflammatory stimuli. This cytokine regulates acute-phase protein synthesis in the liver, promotes B cell differentiation into antibody-producing plasma cells, and influences T cell activation. IL-6 also contributes to fever induction and has important functions in both innate and adaptive immunity, making it a valuable biomarker for inflammatory conditions and immune system research.
The Sheep Interleukin 6 ELISA Kit (CSB-E10116Sh) is designed for quantitative measurement of IL-6 in Ovis aries samples. This competitive assay can detect IL-6 concentrations ranging from 2 pg/mL to 80 pg/mL with a sensitivity of 2 pg/mL. The kit works with serum, plasma, and tissue homogenates, requiring 50-100 μL sample volume per well. Results are obtained through spectrophotometric detection at 450 nm wavelength. Assay completion typically takes 1-5 hours.
Application Examples
Note: The following application examples are drawn from a selection of publications citing this product. For additional applications, please refer to the full list of references in the "Citations" section.
This ELISA kit has been used in research examining inflammatory responses and cytokine profiling in sheep models. Studies have applied the kit to measure interleukin 6 levels in various biological samples as part of broader inflammatory marker evaluations. The kit supports research examining acute phase responses and cytokine networks in ovine experimental systems.
• Inflammatory cytokine profiling - Measurement of interleukin 6 alongside other pro-inflammatory markers in serum samples to evaluate acute phase protein responses and inflammatory status
• Cell culture studies - Quantification of interleukin 6 in cell-free culture supernatants using standard curve methodologies with recombinant protein standards
• Neuroinflammation research - Analysis of interleukin 6 concentrations in brain tissue homogenates, particularly in preoptic area samples, as part of studies examining inflammatory cytokine networks in neural tissues
• Multi-cytokine analysis - Integration into comprehensive cytokine panels measuring multiple inflammatory mediators to provide broader insights into immune responses and inflammatory cascades
