The primary function of Amyloid Precursor Protein (APP) is to participate in the growth, development, and repair of nerve cells, as well as to influence synapse formation and plasticity. Its structure includes an N-terminal signal peptide, an extracellular domain composed of approximately 660 amino acids, and a C-terminal transmembrane and intracellular region. Under normal circumstances, APP is enzymatically cleaved through non-amyloidogenic pathways to produce metabolites with physiological functions. However, abnormal metabolic pathways may lead to the accumulation of β-amyloid, a major pathological feature of Alzheimer's disease. The signaling pathway of APP involves the participation of various enzymes, including α-, β-, and γ-secretases. The activity and regulation of these enzymes are crucial for the generation and clearance of APP metabolites. In research and clinical applications, APP and its metabolites are widely used in the diagnostic and therapeutic studies of Alzheimer's disease.

Immunofluorescence staining of Hela Cells with CSB-RA994273A0HU at 1:50, counter-stained with DAPI. The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, permeated by 0.2% TritonX-100, and blocked in 10% normal Goat Serum. The cells were then incubated with the antibody overnight at 4℃. Nuclear DNA was labeled in blue with DAPI. The secondary antibody was FITC-conjugated AffiniPure Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H+L).
