Description

PDGF-BB is a potent mitogen central to mesenchymal cell proliferation, angiogenesis, and tumor stroma remodeling, making it an essential tool in oncology and regenerative biology research. This tag-free recombinant human PDGFB, covering the full mature protein (aa 82–190), demonstrates strong receptor-binding potency with an ED50 of 5–20 ng/mL in BALB/c 3T3 cell proliferation assays, providing a suitable basis for cell survival studies, PDGFR-ligand binding and competition experiments via ELISA or SPR, and in vivo tumor biology models. Because the protein is expressed in *E. coli* and PDGF-BB does not require glycosylation for receptor activation, researchers obtain consistent lot-to-lot activity without the variability sometimes introduced by mammalian expression systems. Purity exceeding 98% by SDS-PAGE combined with endotoxin levels below 1.0 EU/μg satisfies the criteria typical for sensitive cell-based differentiation assays and angiogenesis or wound healing models.

Required for normal proliferation and recruitment of pericytes and vascular smooth muscle cells in the central nervous system, skin, lung, heart and placenta. Required for normal blood vessel development, and for normal development of kidney glomeruli. Plays an important role in wound healing. Signaling is modulated by the formation of heterodimers with PDGFA.
