LTBR, or Lymphotoxin beta receptor, also known as TNFCR, TNFR3, TNFR-RP, TNFRSF3, or LT-BETA-R, is a Type I single-transmembrane protein and a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily. The primary ligands for LTBR include Lymphotoxin alpha/beta and tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 14 (TNFSF14, also known as LIGHT).
LTBR plays a signaling role in the development of lymphoid and other organs, lipid metabolism, immune responses, and programmed cell death processes. Its activity is also associated with oncogenic effects. The LTBR signaling pathway is involved in activating responses that control cell differentiation, growth, and death, and is essential for the formation of peripheral lymphoid organs, particularly the development of secondary and tertiary lymphoid structures. LTBR signaling may promote communication between infiltrating immune cells and tumor cells, triggering LTβR can induce both canonical and non-canonical nuclear factor (NF)-κB signaling pathways, which are related to inflammation-induced oncogenesis.
