CCL1, also known as C-C motif chemokine ligand 1, has alternative names including I-309, P500, SCYA1, SISe, and TCA3. CCL1 is a small glycoprotein belonging to the CC chemokine family, with a molecular weight of approximately 15-16 kDa. It is secreted by activated monocytes, macrophages, T lymphocytes, and endothelial cells, exhibiting chemotactic activity towards monocytes but no chemotactic effect on neutrophils. CCL1 interacts with chemokine receptor CCR8 on cell surfaces, activating calcium ion influx and causing a transient increase in cytoplasmic free calcium concentration in monocytes, while suppressing thymocyte apoptosis through the RAS/MAPK pathway. CCL1 plays a role in inflammation by recruiting white blood cells and is crucial in processes such as angiogenesis, viral infection, and tumor development. Some single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the CCL1 gene are associated with the progression of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and CCL1 is involved in various central nervous system functions and diseases, particularly in neuroinflammatory disorders.
