CD1d

CD1d, also known as CD1d molecule, is a member of the CD1 family of glycoproteins. It is primarily expressed on antigen-presenting cells and plays a crucial role in the activation of CD1d-dependent natural killer T (NKT) cells. CD1d presents lipids to NKT cells, leading to the secretion of various cytokines and the regulation of innate and adaptive immune responses. The mechanism involves CD1d-mediated recognition of self and foreign lipids, which activates NKT cells and triggers a cascade of signaling pathways, including those involving STAT3 and RORγ. CD1d is associated with various diseases, such as hypertension and vascular injury, and its dysregulation may contribute to the development of these conditions.
