MET

MET is a gene providing an instruction of making a protein named hepatocyte growth factor receptor (also known as c-Met). After HGF specifically binds to the c-Met, it induces a change in the conformation of the c-Met, and activates the protein tyrosine kinases PTK in the intracellular protein kinase domain of the receptor. The activated PTK phosphorylates the receptor's own tyrosine residue, resulting in phosphorylation of various substrate proteins, such as phospholipase (PLCγ) and phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K), resulting in the activation of downstream signaling pathways. The signal is amplified step by step, and finally transferred to the transcription mechanism in the nucleus, which regulates various processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, contraction, movement, secretion and division.

HGF/c-Met signaling system plays an important role in tumor cell proliferation, angiogenesis, infiltration and metastasis by activating multiple signaling pathways in cells Inhibiting the proliferation and metastasis of tumor cells can be used as one of the strategies for anti-tumor infiltration and metastasis therapy.
