FGF23

FGF23, or fibroblast growth factor 23, is a member of the fibroblast growth factor family. It is also known as FGF-23. FGF23 mainly acts on the kidneys, regulating phosphate and vitamin D metabolism through the Klotho-FGFR complex, thereby maintaining the body's phosphate and calcium balance. The signal pathway mainly involves the FGF receptor signaling pathway.
Abnormal FGF23 expression is associated with a variety of diseases, such as chronic kidney disease - mineral and bone disorder (CKD - MBD), tumor - induced osteomalacia. Currently, in drug development, targeting FGF23 and its associated signaling pathways is a potential therapeutic strategy for these related diseases, and some drugs are in different stages of research.
