ITGAM

ITGAM encodes the Integrin Alpha M protein, also commonly known as CD11b. This protein is a key component of the Mac-1 integrin complex (CD11b/CD18). It functions by mediating cell - cell and cell - extracellular matrix interactions. It is involved in the adhesion and migration of leukocytes, playing a crucial role in the immune response and inflammation.
The ITGAM - associated signaling pathways include those related to innate immunity. Abnormalities in ITGAM are linked to several diseases such as autoimmune disorders and certain types of infections. In drug development, targeting ITGAM is being explored as a potential strategy for treating inflammatory and immune - related diseases, aiming to regulate the immune response and reduce inflammation.
