Precision
Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): CV%<15%
Three samples of known concentration were tested twenty times on one plate to assess.
Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): CV%<15%
Three samples of known concentration were tested in twenty assays to assess.

Linearity
To assess the linearity of the assay, samples were spiked with high concentrations of bovine IL-8 in various matrices and diluted with the Sample Diluent to produce samples with values within the dynamic range of the assay.

Target Background

Function
(From Uniprot)
IL-8 is a chemotactic factor that attracts neutrophils, basophils, and T-cells, but not monocytes. It is also involved in neutrophil activation. It is released from several cell types in response to an inflammatory stimulus.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Molecular characterization of the bovine IER3 gene: Down-regulation of IL-8 by blocking NF-kappaB activity mediated by IER3 overexpression in MDBK cells infected with bovine viral diarrhea virus-1. PMID: 29101849
  2. STA3 facilitates TLR4-dependent IL-6 and IL-8 production via IL-6 receptor-positive feedback in endometrial cells. PMID: 26813342
  3. As a pilot study, the present results revealed that identified SNPs in IL8 and TLR4 genes can be used as a genetic marker and predisposing factor for resistance/susceptibility to digital dermatitis in dairy cows. However, TLR4 gene may be a potential candidate for such disease. PMID: 27813832
  4. Blood levels of cortisol, immunoglobulin G, and IL-8 in relationship to genetics and the incidence of bovine respiratory complex disease are reported. PMID: 27482664
  5. Genetic variation at the IL8 locus explains a proportion of the inter-breed and inter-individual variation in immunity between neonatal calves which is likely to influence their resistance to infection. PMID: 27863538
  6. In response to C. abortus infection, both ovine and bovine turbinate cells produce CXCL8 mRNA and protein late in the bacterial developmental cycle. PMID: 26342452
  7. Studied association of IL8 -105G/A with mastitis somatic cell score in Chinese Holstein dairy cows. Results suggest genotype GG may be a useful genetic marker for mastitis resistance selection and breeding in Chinese Holstein dairy cows. PMID: 25380467
  8. Data implicate a complex cascade of events during luteolysis, involving Il8 signaling, neutrophil recruitment, and immune cell action within the corpus luteum. PMID: 24686456

  10. Exposure to follicular fluid transiently increased the transcript levels of IL8 and PTGS2, and decreased the expression of SOD2, GPX3, DAB2, and NR3C1. TNF and IL6 levels were also decreased while those of NAMPT were unaffected. PMID: 24186266
  11. study demonstrates that a small experimental rodent model can be utilized for non-invasively monitoring, through a reporter gene system, the activation of an IL-8 promoter region derived from a larger size animal (bovine) PMID: 22761878
  12. Finding of genetic variation in the IL8 promoter that differentially regulates its expression has significant functional implications for IL8 expression in vitro and which may impact on susceptibility to infectious disease and inflammation. PMID: 22244152
  13. Polymorphonuclear neutrophils migrate into the early corpus luteum(CL) partially due to its major chemoattractant IL-8 produced at high levels in the CL. PMID: 21651784

  19. Levels in milk are altered in the presence of bacteria PMID: 15372997
  20. C-terminal of both bovine IL-8R showed 100% identity, whereas they differ in most other species, suggesting that the two bovine IL-8R initiate similar signal transduction. PMID: 17727952
