FGF1 is a uniquely promiscuous member of the FGF family, capable of binding all four FGF receptor subtypes, making it an essential tool for receptor-ligand binding studies, including SPR and competition ELISAs, as well as broad angiogenesis and tumor biology models. This tag-free recombinant human FGF1, covering the full mature sequence (residues 16–155), demonstrates exceptional potency with an ED50 below 0.5 ng/ml in balb/c 3T3 proliferation assays—corresponding to a specific activity exceeding 2.0 × 10⁶ IU/mg in the presence of heparin—which supports use in cell proliferation and survival assays, neuronal differentiation studies, and wound healing models requiring reliable mitogenic stimulation. Because FGF1 is natively non-glycosylated, *E. coli* expression yields a protein that is structurally faithful to the endogenous form without the batch-to-batch glycan variability sometimes introduced by mammalian systems. Purity exceeding 95% by SDS-PAGE combined with endotoxin levels below 1.0 EU/μg satisfies the criteria typical for sensitive *in vivo* tumor xenograft experiments and primary cell culture work.
