BTN1A1 encodes Butyrophilin subfamily 1 member A1 protein. Also known as BTN1, it is a glycoprotein. The protein is mainly involved in the secretion and formation of milk fat globules in mammary epithelial cells. It interacts with other proteins to ensure proper packaging and release of lipids.
