FNDC1, also known as fibronectin III domain 1, has alternative names including AGS8, FNDC2, and MEL4B3. FNDC1 plays a role in the cells response to hypoxia, positive regulation of cardiomyocyte apoptosis, and positive regulation of protein phosphorylation, and is localized at nuclear spots. FNDC1 functions in various physiological processes, including promoting myogenesis and muscle regeneration, influencing tumor development, and potentially inducing ECM remodeling in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, leading to disease progression. The expression of FNDC1 is biased in tissues such as the gallbladder and thyroid, and it is also expressed in 12 other tissues.
