PSMD1 encodes the 26S proteasome non-ATPase regulatory subunit 1, also known as p97 or S5a. This protein is a key component of the 26S proteasome, which is responsible for the ATP-dependent degradation of ubiquitinated proteins. It binds to ubiquitin chains, facilitating the recognition and delivery of substrates to the proteasome for degradation. The PSMD1 - related signal pathway is mainly the ubiquitin - proteasome pathway.
Mutations or abnormal expression of PSMD1 have been linked to various diseases, including cancers and neurodegenerative disorders. In drug development, targeting the 26S proteasome, especially PSMD1, is an emerging strategy. Some proteasome inhibitors have entered clinical trials, aiming to block the degradation process and induce apoptosis in cancer cells.
The following PSMD1 reagents supplied by CUSABIO are manufactured under a strict quality control system. Multiple applications have been validated and solid technical support is offered.
