RIPK4, also known as receptor - interacting serine/threonine - protein kinase 4, has several aliases including RICK2, CARD16, and CARD40. It plays a pivotal role in the regulation of cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. RIPK4 is involved in the Wnt/β - catenin signaling pathway, which is crucial for embryonic development and tissue homeostasis.
Mutations in RIPK4 are associated with Bartsocas - Pappas syndrome, a severe autosomal - recessive disorder. In drug development, targeting RIPK4 holds potential for treating related genetic diseases, but currently, there are limited clinically approved drugs, and more in - depth research is still required.
