SLC13A3

SLC13A3, a member of the solute carrier family 13, is a membrane transporter responsible for the transmembrane transport of sulfur-containing substances such as sulfates and sulfides. It mediates the transport of sulfate and other substances across the cell membrane, participating in cell metabolism and maintaining intracellular environment stability. SLC13A3 is integral to intracellular sulfate balance maintenance and the promotion of certain metabolic pathways. It may also contribute to antibacterial innate immunity, enhancing the antibacterial defenses of hepatocytes by mediating the intracellular transport of itaconic acid.
