SLC15A4

SLC15A4, also known as solute carrier family 15 member 4, is a 12-transmembrane domain endolysosome-resident amino acid transporter. It plays a crucial role in regulating innate immune responses and is associated with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions. SLC15A4 functions by mediating the transport of various molecules across the lysosomal membrane, including dipeptides, peptidoglycans, and histidine. It is involved in Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling pathways, particularly TLR7-9, and is essential for the development of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in murine models.
